The Data Viewer and Maps will provide access to the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment datasets through an interactive mapping tool and maps created to illustrate selected results from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.

The MA Data Portal will include an interactive map service. This service will provide a user with the capability of generating interactive maps using the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment core datasets. The MA core datasets include sub-national agricultural statistics, climate, global land cover, protected areas, population, reporting units.

• Indicators Datasets – Rapid land cover change, human well-being (GDP, poverty index, infant mortality rate), rural/urban split, wetlands in drylands, rain-use efficiency factor
• Other global data – Cited, peer reviewed, non-peer reviewed data used or created in the MA
• Scenario model data – Inputs: current land cover, population, climate. Outputs: land cover change, biodiversity change
• Sub-global data – Similar data sets to global but at the local or regional level.

The MA Data Portal will provide maps selected to illustrate key information derived from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. This initial version of the MA Data Portal includes maps from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment General Synthesis Report.
